Cabinets and Committees

Black History Month:

Since its inception in 1978, Black History Month is a highly anticipated month- long series of events held annually and supported by one of the best schools in the nation , the University of Florida, and sponsored by UF ’s Black Student Union . This series seeks to educate, enhance, and entertain the university and Gainesville communities by reflecting on the contributions that Black Americans have made. It is our goal to advocate exposure of refined enrichment inspired by the heritage and legacy of universal Black culture.

Black Student Assembly and Community Awards:

The B.S.A.C Committee oversees the operations and execution of the Black Student Assembly and the Black Community Awards.
Held annually in the Fall semester, The Black Student Assembly (BSA) is the first official event of BSU each year and serves as a showcase for black heritage, talent, involvement, leadership, and service. This production consists of acting, dancing, modeling, singing, stepping, spoken-word,and other forms of black achievement and excellence.
Held annually in the Spring semester, The Black Community Awards (BCAs)  is one of two events that concludes the year for BSU, the other being the UMOJA Graduation Ceremony. The BCAs serves to celebrate the accomplishments of University of Florida students who have made an impact on the University of Florida campus and the Gainesville community.

Students that have participated in LDI have moved on to become some of the most prominent leaders on and off the campus.
